All the people I’ve met online/in chat rooms/IRC or those who know my mail ID signature, have asked me one thing at some point or other - What does Vzx mean? I got tired of answering to each individually and so here I am explaining the whole story.

Vzx means nothing! yes, nothing at all and yet there is an interesting story behind it. It’s just a nick/alias I picked up from a very close friend of mine, Ishaan Dalal. Let me begin from the start - Till 10th std I was the typical book worm kind of guy, and then came 11th std in St. Xavier’s Loyola. I met Ishaan and we both were good (if not the best) friends. He introduced me to computers (although it would be still 2 years to go before I actually got a PC at my home), and I can’t stop thanking him about it. We’ve been through the best times together and my ken about computers grew since the day we met. Ishaan, if you are reading this don’t bash me… hehe… I’m just writing what I feel everyone should know.

In fact if he did not leave for USA in 2001 and chose to study here in India - I might have selected engineering with IT as my major. But He left, I became a doctor and the story lands us where we are today - strange ways of fate!

So what does it have to do with vzx? Well, everything! His online nick was izx and the first time I created my ID’s across the net, I couldn’t think of a better name than vzx. Ahh! So you see this is where I get my nick from. With time the nick grew on me and I also named my website www.xvzx.net after www.xizx.net (Ishaan’s website). So be sure to check out my sister (or should I call it brother?) website.

  1. Well, actually, the “i” in izx represents sqrt(-1) — remember complex numbers?

The question is what’s “v” for?

  2. Humm.. I dint not know that. My best guess was that you got the “I” from your Name and so I selected “V” from mine - which explains the Vzx part.
