It’s almost new years eve (just 1 day to go) and there’s no way anyone can beat the resourcefulness of Gujarati People. Recently due to the heavy traffic of SMS messages across mobile networks, Major network operator’s have introduced a new rule to limit the usage of SMS services during public holidays.

Free/Cheap SMS packages are the rule in Gujarat. People would rather talk via SMS than to call up a person and talk in person. So naturally there is a great pressure on the mobile network operators on public holidays/Festivals when people with other in bulk via SMS. What results from this is a great server backlog on the operator’s side and system slowdown’s, crashes, and many other problems. The Solution - Very simple, Charge people with regular text rates on public holidays/festivals.

Free SMS

Of course this does not deter the mighty Gujarati Spirit of getting the most our of free SMS scheme. So what if service providers charge regular rates on 31st Dec? We outsmart them and send bulk messages on 30th Dec… hehe… The end result - No change in traffic, same server crashes, Just got the SMS’s one day earlier.

In accordance, I wish you a very happy new year, One day in Advance!!!

One Response to “New Year Wishes - The Gujarati Way”

  1. Who would know how this new rule of mobile networks is proving to be a pain in the neck, better than me and other students like me who are addicted to sending text msgs? But all bad wishes for the networks keeping aside on this new year eve, I wish everyone a very happy and a prosperous new year.
