I spent 1.5 months in applying to universities across USA last November and was hopeful that I’d get through most of them. Having finished all my application process, I concentrated on my USMLE studies in the new year. But 1 day into the new year and bad news arrives. Today noon I received a letter from University of Illinois at Springfield stating
Dear Mr. Vanar:
There are some exciting changes underway in our Master’s of Public Health (MPH) Program. Beginning in the spring semester of 2007, the MPH faculty will be reorienting the graduate curriculum toward an environmental health emphasis. Given the anticipated curricular changes, the department has temporarily suspended admissions to the Master’s of Public Health degree program.
If you would like to continue with your application process and apply to a different program, please feel free to do so. If you are still interested in the MPH degree and want to lean more about the revised program, please note that we expect to have more information to share with you by mid-spring. If you would prefer to withdraw your application, the fee will be refunded.
Please contact me in the Office of Admissions at atkinson.lori@uis.edu if you decide to apply for a different UIS program or would like a refund of your application fee. Thank you for your understanding, and pleas pardon the inconvenience.
And I was like :O
After spending 15$ on courier charges, 17$ for TOEFL Reporting, 15$ for GRE reporting and the mental agony suffered while gathering all these documents and making sure they reach on time – They are being so polite about refunding me my $60 application fee!!!!! Do they think I care? All I care is that the letter was dated on 21st December and reached me on 2nd January. They could have dropped me an email stating the same. I might have applied to some other university (whose deadline has passed now) in December.
I’ve dropped in a mail to them asking about the status of my application for fall 2007. Lets see what happens. I’ll keep you updated.
