Site Faster?

I’ve been doing some digging around to check what’s causing my site in general to load up very slowly. It could be the server but I am still taking no chances. So taking advice from realin, I have edited my htaccess file (from a whopping 4000 bytes to only 409 bytes at present). All now remains to be seen is that whether this edit does in fact speed up things or not.
