Welcome to a new series on my blog. It’s called American’s Duh!!!

It basically deals with what I think is, ranging from stupid to outrageous, the real problem in America. Keep a close watch on this series as I plan to add entries to it very frequently.

I start with what I found was the most shocking thing I encountered the first time I accessed the internet in USA. Being a self-proclaimed computer geek, it was not easy for me to forget what the bittorrent network has done for me in the last 3-4 years. I practically lived off torrent files – Never spent a single penny on going to the movie hall to see a movie that I could freely (albeit illegally) download via torrents, never bought a single game in my life, never purchased a single song till date (hint – it might change very shortly in the near future) – all thanks to the torrent network.

I am not justifying my deeds and know that what I’ve done is wrong but I simple do not have the money to afford such things. I may be doing something wrong but I’m not bothered and suggest that you keep your conscience to yourself. The point being that the moment I got hold of my PC – which is great BTW (look at the pics below), I was off to torrent sites to see what stuff I can download rightaway.

My torrent Mecca – torrentspy.com has served me well all these years and naturally I opened the site as soon as I could lay my hands on the keyboard. Unfortunately I met with the error message below and it made me furious.

Banned from Torrentspy

I would assume that the same is the case with certain european countries as well. Well anyway the issue could be easily resolved by using masking applications like HideIP platinum and similar apps in its league. The whole point being that USA is targeting the torrent network badly and here’s more proof of that

Isohunt Trackers banned

Two down and many more to go. I just hope that the torrent community does something about it pretty soon.
