Vista (MS in general) sucks… install Ubuntu… that’s what I tell most of my friends who are courageous enough to hear me blabbering everyday about technology. Suck as it may, MicroSoft has been one (and only ?) of the leading contributors to PC computing that we see everyday in our lives. Bill Gates had a vision and it was (and still is) a very good one of software leading technology and that every one should have a PC in the world to make their lives simple. Somewhere down the lane - they grew greedy or employed horrible programmers but their products became more deadline centric and in a rush to release software by deadlines, they goofed up in, for lack of any other words, CRASH TESTING (vista suffered the same fate).

While I am irked by the complicated ways of vista and could go on for hours ranting about how MS sucks, some would call me a hippocrite pointing to my Zune 80. Agreed, I did buy a $267 Zune for me this christmas but b/w Apple and MS, I choose the lesser of the two evils. Hence, I chose to digress from this topic and post here to point you to Bill Gates last key note at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2008 in Las Vegas. For the uninformed, Bill gates is retiring as the chairman of MS corp. this july (he will still be on the board of directors - how convenient) and turn a full time philanthropist working for the Bill Gates foundation towards improving health and education in the 3rd world. Atleast part of our money (from buying MS products) is going to do something good.

Bill also made a really hilarious “What I’ll do on my last day at Office” video inspired by the NBC show - “The Office”. It is a must watch for everyone. There are many copies floating around on youtube but none of them had clear audio and video. The following link the the actual broadcast recording (excellent audio/video) of the entire keynote for you. the only disadvantage is that you’ll have to wait for 5-10 minutes before actually it streams to the part where bill starts the video skit. I hope you enjoy it:

It seems the link is broken. Anyway here is a youtube version of the video
